会议背景介绍:
| As we all know, the 21th century is being characterized by an increased concern on environmental issues, such as greenhouse gas emission and global climate change. To meet such growing demands from natural and man-made challenges and provide a communication forum for scientists, engineers and policy-makers, ISEG2010 will focus on following topics: mining and the environment; site characterization and improvement; land use and the environmental impacts; infrastructure and environmental systems; energy and environmental policy; and other important topics related to environmental geotechnology are expected to be involved in the event.
Previous Symposia in the series were held in Allentown, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. (1986); Shanghai, China (1989); San Diego, California, U.S.A. (1996); Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A. (1998); Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil (2000); Seoul, Korea (2002); Helsinki, Finland (2004); and Abuja, Nigeria (2006). The intermediate year conferences by ISEG were held in Nanjing (1999), Tokyo Japan (2001), Accra, Ghana (2007), Ljubljana, Slovenia (2007) and recently, Bochum, Germany (2009). These events and related technical activities have drawn widespread participation, exemplified by an average of 500 participants from about 50 countries in events that have been hosted. Furthermore, the results of deliberations at some of these events have been directly put into public policies by representatives of government agencies in many countries. ISEG seeks to continue to promote scientific cooperation among countries, organizations and individuals on geoenvironmental issues.
It is our pleasure to invite scientists, researchers, policy-makers and design engineers from academia, industry and government agencies from all over the world to attend this big event. Further information about the activity is available by www.iseg2010.cn.
